Johnny Strange goes into triple overhead Sunset outer reef chaos

Big wave legend Garrett McNamara reluctantly towed first time big wave surfer Johnny Strange into triple overhead outer reef Sunset on the North Shore last week. Though taking a few on the head, Johnny adapted quickly and scored some bombs for his first go out.

With the expertise of Garrett placing Johnny on the right spot of the wave, Johnny was able to get the ride of a lifetime leaving him hungering for more. Garrett called Johnny the “fastest learner he has ever met” and now Johnny has his sights set on conquering Teahupoo in Tahiti this summer.

Johnny Strange first made news last year by becoming the youngest person in the world at 17 to climb the Seven Summits, culminating with a victorious Everest climb in May ’09. Johnny is also adept at mixed martial arts, skydiving, paragliding and beyond.

Johnny is currently in development on a TV show of his life and adventures with Pilgrim TV and Films (Tapout, Dirty Jobs, Ultimate Fighter).
